Learn About Our Ministry

Jeremiah has been on staff with Cru since 2002, and Lori since 2005. We love serving as staff members in the Campus Ministry, reaching out to college students with the good news of Jesus Christ. Our desire, as Cru’s tagline indicates, is to be “a caring community, passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ.”

In July 2014, we moved to Northern California.  We currently serve with Cru on a team that reaches out to University of California, Davis, and that is also seeking to launch movements at a few campuses in the North Bay.  We previously worked at Northern Arizona University, a public Arizona University located in the mountains of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. We served in that beautiful place for seven special, full years. Prior to that, we served in Santa Barbara and South Dakota.

In addition to the campus ministry, Lori also serves with Cru’s national legal team that is based in Orlando, Florida. She works part time from home in the area of First Amendment law/religious liberty. Jeremiah completed his Masters of Divinity at Western Seminary, graduating in 2018.

Our purpose in the Campus Ministry is to build movements of people who are transformed by Jesus Christ.  We desire to build movements in different social pockets on campus so that everyone has the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ from a friend.  We believe this has to happen through students believing in the power of the Gospel and developing a passion to speak about Christ with their friends and acquaintances.  They will do this when they realize and internalize that deep and lasting joy and hope are found in Christ alone.  Our student movement seeks to introduce students to Christ, help them to grow in faith, encourage them to passionately live life in a manner consistent with belief in the God of the Bible, and inspire commitment to advancing the purposes of God in the world.

THE BIG PICTURE OF CRU’S CAMPUS MINISTRY

When Dr. Bill and Vonette Bright began Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951, it was on a college campus…UCLA. Because of the energy and commitment of college students to make a difference in their world, Dr. Bright would say, “Reach the campus today and you reach the world tomorrow.”

Today, although there are many ministries under the umbrella of Cru, college campuses remain at the center of our ministry. It is in the college years that many are open to sincere, spiritual considerations.  Many will graduate having formed beliefs and values that they will rely on throughout their adult lives. We want them to experience what Jesus talked about when He said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Our goal in Cru is to help students begin a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. We then are committed to building new believers in their faith and training them to win, build and send others. In short, our mission is to be used of God to turn lost students into Christ-centered laborers. We believe that the deepest joy in life is found in knowing, loving and living for Christ, and loving and serving others.  We rejoice as we see God transform individual hearts and minds, so that they can live on mission and experience this joy.

There are numerous ways in which we go about this ministry. We use larger group speaker presentations; one-on-one personal conversations; training students to reach out to their friends; investigative Bible studies; evangelistic tools such as the Perspective Cards and http://www.EveryStudent.com. We are committed to extensive discipleship, in-depth training conferences, and encouraging students toward opportunities to serve Christ on campuses in the U.S. and throughout the world.
